The Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas tops the list of players that are being eyed by Newell's Old Boys from Rosario. Navas signed a contract with the club that will end on December 31, 2026. Meanwhile, Argentine forwards Germán Cano and Colombian Radamel Falcao are the main targets for Newell's to strengthen their attack.
Falcao had a long career at River Plate, where he played from 2001 to 2009, while Cano has experience with teams like Chacarita Juniors, Lanús, and Colón de Santa Fe in Argentine football. Cano was key in the last final of the Copa Libertadores, scoring the first goal in the 2-1 victory over Boca Juniors.
Falcao, for his part, has played for several renowned European teams such as Porto, Atlético Madrid, Monaco, Manchester United, and Chelsea, before joining Fluminense F.C. in Brazil. Although his time in Argentina was not as notable, Cano has established himself as an important player in Argentine and South American football.
If Newell's manages to finalize the signing of Cano and Falcao, they would add two significant reinforcements to their squad. However, the advanced age of both players (38 and 37 years old respectively) could be a factor for the club to consider before making a final decision. Nevertheless, the potential arrivals of Cano and Falcao would add to the already impactful signings that Newell's has made in the current transfer market.
